giving motorcycle man his due

oh he did appreciate the moving of the dirt pile

he expected people to do what they said they wd do

he learned that Skaterina was one of those people

when he told her he was selling his house to move to the mountains

she said

i'm coming along

oh yeah ?

she didnt sell her house

after all her daughter lived there and all the dogs

she closed the restaurant and was set to go

he said she cd bring One Dog and One Piece of Luggage

she chose Annabelle, the youngest dog, and a steamer trunk

given her by the plumber who did all the plumbing work for the

restaurant free of charge, expecting to be paid by getting laid

he wasnt

it was a nifty trunk

all she brought was clothes. shoes, a bag of crochet thread

crochet hooks and a book on how to make those doily things

moreover the Motorcycle Man knew how to do lots of things

he rebuilt car and motorcycle engines, he knew how to build

with wood, do plumbing, electricity, tiling, and so on

one cozy night on the Mesa he gave a lecture on how the

internal combustion engine works

thanks to him she learned how to change Dreamboat's oil,

set the gap in her spark plugs, how it all worked, and with

his encouragement she rebuilt the carburetor

later after helping him do carpentry things on the Mesa

without power tools she and her daughter redid the Happy Trail

kitchen in prep for the new baby (daughters, not hers)

Skaterina designed and build pull out bins, one for kibble, and one for

trash and many other items

some are still in use

oh she learned a lot with that man

he learned how to drink and make espresso and spaghetti carbonara,

which he then made with sausage instead of bacon

he also knew how to fish and catch many many trouts

she learned how to loll in the sun by an icy trout stream

and how to eat as many as 9 in one sitting

she learned how to cook on a wood burning stove

she baked bread, cookies, Navaho fry bread, well

anything you cd bake or cook

she knew how to use that little stove, misses it even now

when MM was there he cut wood for the stove with a giant

chain saw

when he was away she found a basket the size of the wood

needed that wd fit the stove

strolled around the vast mesa and its unlimited surroundings

picking up chunks of wood

she hadnt much money / when he went away the first time

she had ten dollars / she lived for three weeks on that

shopping wisely

like four artichokes for a dollar and a Vogue Magazine

that girl !!
