Up and At 'Em

since Skaterina's Git up and Go Got up and Got

we are pressed to discover how to tickle her taste buds

once upon a time Mama wrote to Great Aunt Maudie :

Kappy is a "fresser"  (german for "eats like an animal")

(maybe like a "baby")

heh

we prefer "pick.chew.nibble"

which is snicksnacking all day long instead of sitting down to "real meals'

with this in mind we explore a couple of new cookery books

The Feed Zone Cook Book and Feed Zone Portables

Written for Athletes !

far be it from me to suggest that Skaterina is an athlete (she was next to last chosen for teams slightly more humiliating than being the last choice, btw)

her true eating habits are eat a little of this, then later, that, and so on

she definitely cd be described as a "fresser" if left to her own devices

she has curbed this over time / after all / she became a foodie in Rome / with ongoing mealtimes for all and sundry

there was the restaurant in SoCal

it was All About Meals

these days as she approaches Kappy.hood

yes / she can be a chlld again / shoot / she thinks she was kind of a neat kid *

c'mon

tell about the cook books

we made sweet potato cakes

just eat the sweet potato !  it is already baked !

instead we add an egg, brown rice flour, a little maple syrup,

a cup of cooked rice

make this into cakes using the creme brulee dishes

bake 'em

right away she ate one with butter, what else, and chopped almonds

hmm / nice

but

here's the point / these can be wrapped individually using paperbackfoil
for a hike, a ride, a climb, the athlete has portables to eat along the way

here's the book info :
The Feed Zone and Feed Zone Portables
by Biju Thomas and Allen Lim
one is a chef/cyclist from India
one is a cycling exercise physiologist

lots of recipes that will seem to us like making play food / two bite pies / sticky rice bars / oh my / there is even a recipe for Snickerdoodles that turn that classic cookie on its head

plus / as Tom Robbins wrote : "it's never too late to have a happy childhood"
