Skaterina looks back in wonder
Skaterina muses* (or ponders) (or wonders)
how did it all begin ?
the Doctor said it is cancer
okay
let's (LET'S?) go to New Mexico where you will ingest 20 pounds of organic fruit and vegetables a day plus coffee enemas to flush it all out / dont forget the wheat grass juice / yum
go to Colorado so you can get medical marijuana / hmmm
or to Arizona where it is warm and there are dirt bike tracks / of course ! why didnt i think of that ?
or to EX's favorite doctor in SoCal / he has a hyperbaric chamber / swell
or to Santa Barbara for "natural" healing / we can have a house on the beach !
or have radiation 5 times a week for six weeks in a city far far away but we can go home on weekends
BFF says she will come too but, oh, she wants to bring her dog
she and the BFF become giddy with the idea of "going to cancer camp"
Skaterina looks into all possibilitease
there is the 13 hour surgery with a year to recover / think tube in stomach
if and/or when the surgery proves to be a failure there is radiation and next there is chemo
she reads up on everything
she leaves no turn unstoned
to wind things up she makes an appointment with the radiologist who wants to be called something more important / we dont remember what it was
Skaterina calls a friend who had radiation with this "ologist"
the friend says she was good except sometimes hard to understand bc of the chinese accent
Ah So

Skaterina read an article in the NYT about an elderly man who had lung cancer
some years ago / he refused chemo and went back to the island in the Mediterranean where he had grown up / it was his happy place / soon he was growing his own food, guzzling wine with his pals and leading a normal life / later when tested it was found he no longer had cancer
Skaterina looked for clues / she was already in her happy place / she was at home / she cd grow her own food and guzzle wine with her pals !
bottom line she absolutely did not want to leave home !
'sides, who was gonna cough up the big bucks to pay for it all ?
she decided, like Kris Karr in Crazy Sexy Cancer, she did not want to support the billion dollar cancer industry which is impossible anyway when you dont have any money
she would take her chances
risk her life in her own way
she had been successful with nutritional healing
she cd try it again
it worked with anemia, with gout, with hypoglycemia; not with cervical cancer
