avocado rant
her first avocado sandwich now bright in her memory
from the Smoothie Bar in 1972
Skaterina has a few words to say about avocados !
she is a born and sporadically raised California girl
with Coming of Age in Topanga beginning when she was 40
she has had avocado trees in her yard when they lived in the Hollywood Hills
she believes an avocado is the finest of fast foods
she believes that using them to make fake "paleo" foods
that require some kind of thickener
is a sin, a crime, a travesty, and a scandal
recently she saw a blogger using an avocado to make some sort of
chocolate substance
Skaterina quickly wrote in to suggest TEFF chocolate pudding
she guesses that since TEFF is a grain the phoney cavemen cannot eat them
she believes that the world's oldest grain predates cavemen
so there
avocadoes can be used to make high end guacamole
they can be used in their perfect arc of slices
as accompaniment to Mamacitas
which were a special breakfast at Caterina's restaurant in Topanga
a Mamacita was eggs scrambled with Altadena cheese and sauteed mushrooms
with avocado on the side or the finest hashbrowns known
some time after she closed the restaurant (customers cried, they did)
she happened to see one of the EAGLES in Vermont
as soon as he recognized her he shouted out :
Mamacita with Avo !
this morning Skaterina has half an avocado with spritzes of lemon
with a Golden Thinnie : golden beet, pear, coconut milk, orange juice and zest
we now rise and shine
