Vienna
the next time Skaterina was in Austria
they were in Vienna
the actor husband was making a movie in an old castle
it was a vampire movie
yup
it was winter then too
at the castle foods were put out for the cast and crew
Skaterina ate raw bacon
yup
later in the hotel restaurant she discovered Germ Knoedle
spell check coming up
she ordered the luncheon dessert one day
it was a dumpling about the size and texture of a tennis ball
it was swimming in melted butter
a liberal scattering of poppy seeds all over it
guess what ?
inside the dumping was a gob of some kind of jam
Skaterina identified the gob as FIG Jam !

a few years ago Caterina googled what she thought was the spelling of Germ Knoedel
yup
she found a recipe
the Viennese did a better job of it
