symptoms

a symptom is an indication of disorder or disease

okay

the first question the cancer surgeon asked Skaterina last year was "how long have you had symptoms?"

i dont have any symptoms she said

i discovered the lump on my tongue (Pearlina) via a chance encounter with a CheeZit crumb

now

almost a whole year later

Skaterina reviews her situation

the first thing to note is that it is, indeed, a whole year later !

her tumors are not bigger and she feels better than ever

she realizes that she did have symptoms but didnt know what they meant

remember when she had Dry Mouth ?

she was so dry in the night that she thought she cdnt get her mouth unstuck !

there was some difficulty swallowing dry things / clue the CheeZit crumb event

it turned out, via the biopsy, that she had cancer cells in Pearlina and in a lymph node in her neck (Lumpkin)

cancer cells called mucoepidermoid carcinoma (or something like that, she is now too lazy to look it up but maybe she will later)

Get This !

these cancer cells came from her salivary glands

wow

no wonder she was so dry, threatening to dry up like an old maid (sorry, old maids)

here we live in one of the driest areas in the country / the southwestern desert where dehydration is literally and figuratively a killer or at least will make you feel really really awful

where she has always been attentive to drinking enough water and paying attention to whether her lips are dry or not

the first sign of dehydration is akin to chapped lips, see ?

at first she thought it was the smoke and wine that caused the mouth stuck shut syndrome so she quit those lovely habits

nothing really changed in the stuck shut situation

the surgeon said they didnt cause anything anyway / bad luck, he said

here we are a year later, a year of green tea, sour sop, turmeric in all its possibilitease, broccoli, oh you know all that good anti cancer stuff

Skaterina is now sloshing her saliva around

squish squish

Stop That!  says MrsFoley
