Nightmare
Skaterina's second worst nightmare is coming true
she has cancer / it is on her tongue and in her throat
she learned nothing from Unca Fred when he went to the dentist and there was a something in his mouth that caused him to give up smoking after sixty years
he then had a chronic cough that revealed a massive cancer in his esophagus
he was in such poor health no doubt from the years of smoking not to mention the fifth of whiskey a day
Nothing Could Be Done
he died when he was 80
okay, Miss Tickle, what is Skaterina's worst nightmare / let me guess / she has always imagined that she, too. would eventually develop cancer in her throat or worse yet on her tongue like the neighbor girl who died swilling wheat grass juice
her imaginings were so vivid that they became a lingering paranoia so that when she sensed something "wrong" and considered going to her doctor for an x.ray or something medically technical that might show up something going "wrong" that she told a friend about it and then decided she was just imagining things ... ho ho ho
cut to the chase / one night a crispy CheeZit (white cheddar) crumb seemed to get stuck in her throat / she put a finger down there and sure enough there was a crumb and there was a lump on her tongue
doctor visits ensued
they looked down her gullet and then there was a cat scan and then there was the biopsy
the biopsy was yesterday / it confirmed that cancer was on the prowl
an unexpected challenge
a shock to the system
Miss Tickle says that since Skaterina had been doing the Tibetan Rites for the last 5 or 6 years and since she looks so great and so healthy and so not 89
years old that it was hard to believe anything was going on that was not right
on the other hand, Skaterina thinks, maybe this IS right / it is her destiny and it seems okay in some unfathomable way (to anyone else) it's not as if she hadnt thought of it plenty of times
her primary doctor says she can now put the threat of a stroke on the back burner (yay, more butter, more cream, it's all okay about the ice cream too)
she will prolly not live long enough now for Alzheimers / that is definitly a plus
stay tuned
in case you wondered, her worst nightmare is something happening to Juanita like she is dognapped again but never returns or gets squashed in the street when she is not paying attention
